The chosen emblem for Acticut International is a symbol demonstrating commitment. For us at Acticut International, the tri-color logotype stands for whole-hearted commitment towards a common goal. It also clearly shows that all companies have their own market, and perform using innovative and successful products along with a high level of human knowledge. The logo also symbolizes, through its interlocking "horns", how each organizational element, when forged together, creates a stronger and viable unit. It is also clear how Acticut, with the wine red color, has a key role and provides a distinct focus for the core business activity.

In the cutting industry, knowledge and focus on the cutting process and its environment is focused on the properties of the cutting edge itself. An understanding of the dynamic properties of the cutting machine and/or tool holder(s) used, is often minimal. Acticut's research team has clearly verified its understanding of the physics behind the cutting process and new solutions can thus be crated using new approaches. Figure 1 below depicts the current technology approaches used in the industry and where Acticut's broad and experienced team fits in. The classical passive approach deals with a limitation of cutting parameters enabling a reasonable level of vibration reduced cutting. Substantial research has been invested in new cutting edge materials and shapes. The focus of the research is very close to the contact point between the cutting edge and the workpiece.

In today's European research, there are multiple initiatives using adaptively tuned passive dampers with a micro controller as the control system. The Acticut® Smart Cutting System uses an adaptive and active approach where energy is added to the tool holder and this gives a substantially extended vibration suppression capability. From multiple projects in this industry, it has been clear that it is not only the tool holder that is the cause of the vibration problem but clamping, machine foundation, workpiece and/or other system components. Acticut's expert team has vast knowledge and experience from all technology segments and is poised to help customers overcome today's limitations.
